Unfortunately, my review of the Louisville Zoo is incomplete. When we last visited, many of the exhibits were not visible due to A) temperature being over 100 degrees and conditions not ideal for some animals, and B) construction was going on to improve some exhibits. So while I do have a couple of highlights for you, I won’t comment on any lows as I don’t feel like I have a good sample of this zoo. We’re hoping to get back here so we can see their improvements.
Highlights:
- Glacier Run – they had just completed their Glacier Run exhibit with polar bears and grizzly bears; it’s my understanding that in Fall 2018 they’re adding seals (from the Miller Park Zoo in Bloomington, IL), so this is definitely an exhibit to check out.
- Splash Pad – as hot as it was, we spent over an hour at this splash pad. It is way more than just some sprinklers in the ground – think more of a full size playground that has water shooting everywhere. There’s also a spot for the smaller children as well, and is monitored closely by a gate attendant
