- Parking – The Aviary has a small parking lot with free parking.
- Cost – If you live in the area, it’s probably worth a membership. Cost is $17 for adults and $16 for kids. Memberships seem reasonable.
- Strollers – The Aviary is almost entirely indoors, so I would say unless you have infants, you can leave the stroller at home.
- Food – The cafeteria serves sandwiches and small meals (Burger, pizza, chicken). We ate there and it was actually pretty good.
- Time Needed – If you’re just walking through, you need 1-2 hours at most. However, we would strongly recommend you check out more than just the walk through exhibits (see below)
- Shows/Encounters – The Amazing Amazon is a $5/person show. You’ll want to sit in the middle/right side of the room so that you can see the birds well. The Aracary feeding is alos $5, and this is a cool experience (see the video above). Lorikeet Feeding is $3. This is offered at most zoos, and this is pretty par for the course. For cash purposes, you could save this one for another time. Most of these are offered in both the morning and afternoon, so with some planning you can do as much as you’d like.
- Wetlands Feeding – This was the most enjoyable part of the day. We did this in the morning. It’s a facilitated feeding by the keeper, with volunteer opportunities. Check out the video below!
