We came on a day where the weather was questionable, so despite being in July we had the zoo to ourselves. Even so, this zoo had plenty of space. We enjoyed the various parts that the zoo had to offer. While they have a large supply of animals, the habitats were mediocre in my opinion. We did like that they had some animal engagement opportunities
Highlights:
- Giraffe Feeding – a staple among small zoos, I appreciate that they have a well put together feeding deck. I did, however, think it was weird that the attendants stayed inside a hut, and the visitors were free to feed unattended.
- Elephants – Despite being a smaller zoo, the elephants here have more room than they do at most zoos. They even have a training yard where we could see other elephants off exhibit.
- Cheetahs – the cheetahs have a lot of room to roam, and we liked learning about the recently born cubs.
Lows:
- Hippos – this was almost like a forgotten exhibit; there were 2 hippos stuck down in a small water area; would like to see them have a new exhibit built
- Join exhibits – this zoo has a large number of animals, and most of the exhibits seem to offer adequate space for them; but I’d like to see them turn this more into a lifelike zoo, where animals coexist more often
